RULES AND REGULATIONS
CLASS RULES AND REGULATIONS

To ensure a fair and fun race for all competitors, please follow these rules and regulations. If you have questions, please ask officials.

Recreation, Junior, Masters, Family & Corporate Classes:
Skiers must obey International Ski Federation rules and helmets are REQUIRED; bikers must obey United States Cycling Federation rules (no tandems, airfoils, fairings, recumbents or drafting allowed) and wear helmets; boaters may use canoes, rafts or kayaks. Touring kayaks longer than 4.5 meters must have at least one hatch with useable storage. International Canoe Federation sanctioned wildwater (downriver) kayaks, flatwater kayaks, racing canoes, surf skis, pedal-powered and hydro foils and open-ocean racing boats are prohibited in Recreation Class.

Racing Class:
All of the above rules apply with the following exception: Boaters ARE allowed to use International Canoe Federation sanctioned wildwater (downriver) kayaks and racing canoes. ALL OTHER RECREATION CLASS RULES FOR EACH LEG STILL APPLY.

Fun Class:
Class is judged on how much fun you have! Please yield to overtaking craft. Helmets are required!


COMPETITOR RULES AND REGULATIONS

Timing:
All competitors must complete each leg within the allotted time listed below. After such time, participants can complete the leg, but will not receive a leg time. Thank you for your understanding.
Leg restrictions: Leg restrictions will be posted one week prior to the event.

Bicyclists:
All bicyclists must obey all traffic laws. Bicyclists will come to a complete, motionless stop at all stop signs. Concurrently, at least one foot will be pulled off the pedal and placed on the ground. There shall be no support persons for assistance. Traffic will not be stopped or controlled. It is solely the responsibility of the bicyclist to determine when it is safe to proceed on Highway 390 and Highway 22. Failure to comply will result in disqualification, serious injury and/or death. Judges will be present to determine compliance. Violation of Wyoming traffic laws will not only result in disqualification, but also a citation by the Wyoming Highway Patrol. No bicycle drafting will be tolerated. Time trial rules are in effect. Bicyclists shall not ride closer than two (2) bicycle lengths behind another rider nor closer than three (3) feet to the side except when passing. Helmets are required.

Boats:
Must display a number on the starboard bow above the water line (remember your bow wave!) Boat number on the starboard side, must be visible to the timing crew at the Snake River Canyon Ranch Bridge. Boats must pass through the finish gate and banner suspended from the bridge which will hang near the northwest shore, right side of the river. If your number is not visible, please do not expect a time. Life jackets must be worn by all competitors in the boating leg. Teams without life jackets will be disqualified. Boats must be left at the river on Friday evening.

Right of Way:
Rule appropriate for Nordic & Boating Legs ONLY. Belongs to the overtaking competitor in all circumstances. The slower competitor shall heed a warning and yield, yet the overtaking racer shall use extreme caution and not expect the slower racer to yield in areas of danger. No interference will be tolerated.

Gear:
Identify gear by owner and Bib number. JHSC cannot be responsible for stolen items.


The Good Samaritan Rule is in effect throughout the race, with each competitor accepting the responsibility to assist another.


Support Crews can NOT ever cross the finish line. You MUST have a bib on to cross the finish line. Violaters will be dis-qualified.

NO DOGS ALLOWED! Violaters will be disqualified.
